Just an extremely quick post as we’re paying for expensive coffee to be able to get Wi-Fi to publish this!
We finally arrived in Siberia Mon 7th after 4 nights on the Trans-Mongolian. 4 nights, not 3 as we had worked out – yeah didn’t read the dates properly. So 4 nights with no shower, 4 nights with hardly any English speakers. When we stepped off the train we felt as though we had left some kind of crazy social experiment!
Despite some of the discomforts it’s been well worth it. We’ve seen some amazing sights, met some wonderful people, eaten lots of crap and drunk many a random Russian beer – a teeny bit of Wodka too. So in honour of our new acquaintances we’re posting a few pics as a taster…
Big thanks to Alex who we met on the St. Petersburg to Moscow train, Anna, Katya & Dianne for all your wisdom & sight-seeing tips & thanks to Yuriy, George & Oleg for keeping us entertained. Oh & to the fat snoring man who kept us all awake all night then woke super early to nosily slurp his tea and snaffle a giant smoked sausage – you’re lucky that I didn’t stick a fork (or in my case spork) in your head!
Since writing the above message we had a super chilled time in Listvyanka then continued our train journey through the Russian/ Mongolian borders and onto Ulaanbaatar to stay in the Ger Camp. Boarding the train to Beijing tomorrow morning – more of all that later but for now here’s some pics to prove that we’re still alive!
