Thoughts of a Flowertot…Australia – Perth & The West Coast (with Compact Camera Snaps)

(Part of a series of articles by Fi trawling the archives for photos taken on the tiny compact camera way back when).

Our first social event in Perth was to meet again with Rob & Gilly & Rob & Fi, their hosts in Perth. So that’s Gilly & Rob, Rob & Fi & Fi & Paul. Not at all confusing! We met in the Little Creatures brewery for a couple of eye-wateringly expensive pints. We had already begun to joke about price as a coping mechanism. ‘Hey, guess how much my pint cost.. $9.50 ha ha’ as we cried into it. Thankfully, after amply feeding and watering us, Rob & Fi pointed us in the direction of Dan Murphy’s, a cheaper alternative for keeping our alcoholism sated during our upcoming road trip.

We don’t actually seem to have taken many photos on the compact camera of the west coast drive.  To make up for it there are a fair few from our escapades on the wine tour later that week (which included a brewery and then chocolate factory as the last stop – genius). Still fresh from our tastings, next stop was to meet up with Liam, an awesome guy we met a few times in Japan.  Our last meeting had ended at 6am drunkenly in Tokyo, post-karaoke, saying our goodbyes on the metro.  We were re-united by tottering into Liam’s work, no doubt reeking of wine. This being our last night in Perth we had far too little time to catch up but made the most of it chatting away in funky little ‘Vox-esque’ bar, stuffing our faces with humongous $20 burgers and being treated to a new experience of Sheesha from Liam. We left Perth with very happy memories, it’s a place with a great vibe and is a cool place to be thanks to some awesome people!
