Thoughts of a Flowertot…Fiji – Nanuku (with Compact Camera Snaps)

After a brief stop at the ‘petrol station’ the guys waded back to the boat and we were off, heading out into the Pacific Ocean in our little open top speedboat.  As the sight of any land drifted from our view the ocean became darker and the swell grew to a good metre and a half treating us to an extremely bumpy and wet 3 hour ride. We were drenched and a little battered but that was soon forgotten as we saw our first glimpse of Nanuku. It was heavenly – a sliver of gleaming white sand stretching out into the ocean with a neat cluster of lush trees. The kind of island you see in a brochure but never expect to experience. There’s little more that needs to be said really, it was just perfect…
